Holiday

What? So this week we had a holiday so we did not have class. So we worked on our webquest. The webquest is a big project and it will be a useful tool for my students.

So What? My partner and I decided to do our webquest on geograpy since we are teaching the 2nd grade. We are going to have them do a little "Amazing Race." I am very excited to do this lesson as a webquest. Since the students will not actually be able to travel to all the places on their amazing race, they will get to go on a virtual tour of the world. The can use all sorts of resources on the webquest to understand the geography of the world. I think that webquest will make me a better teacher because my students will get to explore the world on their own in a way that technology is just making available to them.

I think I can really start to apply this to my life by making lots of webquest to make collection so that my students will have them available to them. I know that my colleagues would really appreciate my collection as well.

Now What? I really want my students to come away from the project feeling like they just went a on a trip of them world. I really want to make this a great webquest so that they will get excited. I never did anything like this a student and I am not sure I have ever seen it in any of the classes I have a observed in so I think it will really define me as a teacher to have an assignment like this.

I know the students can really get together and collaborate on an assignment like this one. We could even use a webquest as a department to talk about a topic we all have a stand in like staying drug free. I think that our school can go above and beyond using webquest.
